The Z-Boys were a group of skateboarders from Venice, CA (dogtown) in the 1970s who are credited with popularizing skateboarding and essentially creating the punk/skatersubculture that now exists. Their name is derived from the name of the team they competed with together, the Jeff Ho Zephyr team.
